Field hockey midfielder Meredith Keller and men's soccer defender David
Stokes are Co-Carolina Waterscapes Student-Athletes of the Week for
September 16-22.
Keller, a senior from Greenville, Del., displayed outstanding leadership and
assisted on a goal as the Tar Heels beat #2 ranked Old Dominion, 2-0. The
next day, Keller had the game-winning goal in UNC's 3-1 win over #11
Virginia.
Stokes, a junior from Dumfries, Va., anchored a defensive unit that shut out
the University of Virginia over the final 74 minutes in Carolina's 2-1 win.
It was UNC's first victory over the Cavaliers at Fetzer Field since 1994.
Other nominees:
Eve Rackham, a senior setter from Sebastopol, Calif., had 12.5 assists per
game in leading the Tar Heels to a 3-0 record last week.
Lindsay Tarpley, a freshman forward from Kalamazoo, Mich., scored three
goals in the women's soccer team's 6-0 win over FIU and added an assist in
the 4-1 win over Marquette.
