UNC student-athletes got into the Halloween spirit Wednesday night while raising money for an important cause. More than 20 Tar Heels spent an evening at the Durham Jaycees Haunted House, held at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Wednesday was designated as UNC vs. Duke Night, with every entrant able to designate whether proceeds from their ticket purchase went to benefit the charity selected by UNC or the charity selected by Duke. The Carolina charity - the North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center at UNC Hospitals - was the big winner, with the majority of the night's haunted house goers picking the Tar Heels.

Representing UNC were members of the Tar Heel women's swimming, women's golf, softball and men's and women's swimming and diving teams. They attended the event - themed "Haunted Hospital" - in costume and participated in skits as part of the haunted house. The Carolina student-athletes also helped with taking tickets and leading groups through the "hospital," which is a fundraiser for numerous local charities.

"Everyone who went had a great time," said Julie Gladchuk, UNC Student-Athlete Development intern and the organizer of UNC's participation. "And the fact that they were able to be involved in raising money for an outstanding cause made the night even better."
