  • Under the direction of the UNC Olympic sports strength and conditioning staff, Tar Heel student-athletes get outstanding coaching intended to help maximize their physical potential. The staff evaluates Carolina student-athletes in a variety of ways, including the use of specialized software for lifting and running video analysis, to encourage steady progress toward reaching optimum preparation for competition.

Teams train at the Olympic sports weight room in Kenan Field House. In addition to top-of-the-line strength equipment, the center boasts a five-lane, 25-yard rubberized surface for teaching and performing warm-up activities, acceleration drills and agility movements. Year-round training produces athletes who are prepared to compete successfully and safely.

Greg Gatz is the Director of Strength and Conditioning for Olympic Sports and oversees the program along with Steve Gisselman, Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning.
