    CLEMSON, S.C. - Swimming its first dual meets in over two months, the 13th-ranked University of North Carolina men's swimming and diving team and 14th-ranked women's swimming and diving team scored victories over Clemson Saturday afternoon at McHugh Natatorium. The Tar Heel men defeated the Tigers 180-118 and the UNC women triumphed by a score of 174-124.

    Carolina ran its dual meet win streak to three in a row on each side of the ledger as both teams are now 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Tar Heel men now have an all-time dual-meet record of 45-5-1 against the Tigers and the women lead the all-time series 26-5.

    UNC's men won 10 of 14 individual events and one relay (as an exhibition) and used its depth to compiled 180 points in the meet. Freshman Brad Hamilton won two individual events and was on the exhibition winning 400-yard freestyle relay. Other swimmers with two individual victories for North Carolina were sophomore Vinny Pryor in both breaststroke event and freshman Victor Leclere in both butterfly entries.

    Wil Singley and Evan Reed, both freshmen, each had an individual win and swam on a winning UNC relay.

    The Tar Heel men will return to action next Friday and Saturday in the Dallas Morning News Class in Dallas, Texas, hosted by SMU.

    On the women's side, the Tar Heels won both relays (including the 400 free relay as an exhibition) while taking nine of 14 individual events.

     

     

    Sophomore Rebecca Kane took two individual events and the two relays while junior Megan Steeves won one individual and one relay and sophomore Katura Harvey had two individual wins and a relay triumph. Freshman Layne Brodie was also on one winning relay and an individual event win.

    Clemson is now 4-5 on the men's side and 0-4 overall. The Tiger women are 2-4 and 1-3.

    UNC's women will be back in action next Friday and Saturday at the prestigious Swimming World Shootout hosted by Rutgers in New Brunswick, N.J.
