IRVINE, CALIF. - Tyler Harris erased his own school record in the 200-meter individual medley Friday at the 2010 ConocoPhillips United States Swimming National Championships in Irvine, Calif.

Harris, who earlier this week broke his own school record in the 400-meter individual medley, toppled another record Friday in the 200-meter individual medley. Harris qualified 15th in the event Friday in a time of 2:02.40, eclipsing his previous school record of 2:03.13 which he set at the 2009 U.S. Open. Harris went on to finish 14th in the event in 2:02.65.

Three other Tar Heels finished with Top 20 finishes in events on Thursday and Friday.

Senior Tommy Wyher placed 13th in the 100-meter butterfly at 53.88 seconds. Wyher had qualified 15th at 54.01.

Erika Erndl, a 2001 alumna, placed 18th in the women's 50-meter freestyle with a time of 25.82 seconds.

Sophomore Carly Smith, a Chapel Hill, N.C., native, placed 16th Friday in the 200-meter backstroke after making it into the "B" final after a morning swim-off. Smith's time in the finals was 2:16.28. She qualified in the morning almost a second faster at 2:15.42.
