    IRVINE, CALIF. - North Carolina senior Joe Kinderwater of Lancaster, Pa. finished seventh in the 1500-meter freestyle on the final day of competition Saturday at the 2010 ConocoPhillips USA Swimming Championships in Irvine, Calif. Kinderwater was one of five Tar Heels to finish in the finals on Saturday.

    Kinderwater placed seventh in the final of the 1500-meter freestyle with a time of 15:21.29. The senior also qualified in the prelims in seventh but with a slightly faster time of 15:19.57.

    Chip Peterson, a 2010 UNC alumnus, took 15th in the 1500-meter free at 15:29.93 while junior Wil Singley placed 20th in 15:40.19.

    2001 alumna Erika Erndl finished 13th Saturday in the 100-meter freestyle at 55.71. She had qualified 11th in 55.59 seconds.

    Tar Heel senior Tyler Harris of Richmond, Va. placed 22nd in the 200-meter breaststroke with a time of 2:18.68. Harris qualified 20th in the event at 2:17.54.

    Saturday was the final day of the 2010 national championships. The junior national championships begin at the same site next week.
