    Six men and five women from the University of North Carolina men's and women's swimming and diving teams were named Wednesday to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Teams for the 2011-12 school year.

    Senior freestyler Steve Cebertowicz and sophomore freestyler Stephanie Peacock swept the top awards Sunday night as Coach Rich DeSelm's swimming and diving programs honored their 2011-12 teams Sunday night at the annual team banquet at the Chapel Hill Country Club.

    Sophomore Dan O'Connor of the University of North Carolina men's swimming and diving team turned in a pair of outstanding performances this past weekend at the 2012 USA Swimming Open Water National Championships, including a bronze medal finish in the five-kilometer race.

    The Atlantic Coast Conference has honored eight individuals as recipients of the 2012 ACC Swimming & Diving annual awards, announced Thursday by the conference office. UNC's Rich DeSelm was named the winner of the 2012 ACC Women's Coach of the Year Award while sophomore Stephanie Peacock was honored as the 2012 ACC Women's Swimmer of the Year.
