    GREENSBORO, N.C. - The UNC sprinters competed at the Murray Neely Invitational hosted by NC A&T on Saturday as the Tar Heels came away with four regional qualifying marks. Leading the way were the women hurdlers as LaToya James claimed the top spot in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 59.66 to earn a regional qualifying mark. In the 100-meter hurdles Porscha Dobson and Vanneisha Ivy both qualified for the final as Dobson finished fifth in a time of 13.82 to earn another regional mark, while Ivy finished ninth in 14.54. Dobson also claimed a fourth place finish in the 400-meter hurdles posting a time of 1:02.25, just ahead of Colleen Farley's time of 1:02.82 who finished fifth.

    The women's 4x100 relay team placed second on the day with a time of 45.55 to earn the third regional mark on the women's side. Charles Cox was the lone Tar Heel male to claim a regional spot as he picked up his second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 46.53 to claim the top spot. Cox also competed in the 200-meter dash and finished seventh (21.57) just ahead of Reggie Berry who finished eighth in a time of 21.64. Ian Williamson and Ryan Booker both claimed top 10 finishes in the 400 as Williamson took ninth (48.50) and Booker claimed 10th (48.67) for the Tar Heels. Berry also competed in the 400-meter hurdles and came away with an eighth place finish as he crossed the line in 54.31, besting teammate Brian Barret who took home 11th in 55.30.

    Edward Baldwin III posted a fourth place finish in the long jump as he cleared 7.15m (23-05.00). Austin Davis finished second in the triple jump as he posted a mark of 14.74m (48-04.50), falling just shy of a regional qualifying mark, while Baldwin cleared 13.41m (44-00.00) for an eighth place finish.

     

     

    On the women's side, Ashley Hill finished fifth in the 200-meter dash when she posted a time of 24.61. A trio of Tar Heels competed in the 400 as Christine Johnson placed sixth (55.62), Callie Pottinger placed eighth (56.07) and Shardae Anderson placed 23rd (58.38). Erika Foushee finished sixth in the long jump as she cleared 5.42m (17-09.50) ahead of Ashley Hill who cleared 5.05m (16-07.00) and Dejanell Mittman (4.68m, 15-04.25). Mittman got the best of the group in the triple jump as she cleared 11.16m (36-07.50) for a seventh place finish.
