    DES MOINES, Iowa - The North Carolina men's track and field team picked up another strong performance from a freshman on Saturday at the NCAA Championships in Des Moines, Iowa as Austin Davis cleared a personal-best 53-3 in the triple jump to finish eighth. Davis' point pushed the Tar Heel total to five to put Carolina in a tie for 42nd overall, while the women closed out the 2008 NCAA Championships in a tie for 46th.

    Brie Felnagle was also in action on Saturday as she competed in the 1500-meter run. The Tacoma, Wash. native placed ninth in the event running a 4:17.76. As a result of her ninth-place finish Felnagle earned her seventh All-America honor of her career.

    Davis joined Felnagle with an All-America plaudit of his own thanks to his eighth-place showing in the triple jump. Two athletes from the men's and three from the women's squads earned All-America honors at the NCAA Championships. Joining Felnagle and Davis were high jumpers Donte Nall and Patience Coleman along with hurdler LaToya James.
