The North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame announced Thursday that former Tar Heel standout Jim Beatty will be added to the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame's "Great Moments" series during a reception at the North Carolina Museum of History on Wednesday, May 9.

IAAF Report on Lisbon Half Marathon
Former Tar Heel Shalane Flanagan won the women's race at the Lisbon Half Marathon Sunday, dominating the field by more than 15 seconds to win her second major half-marathon race of the year.

Four members of the UNC cross country team were named to the 2011 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Cross Country Team. Senior Adam Cunningham and sophomore Isaac Presson were named to the men's team, and junior Mariana Lucena and sophomore Lianne Farber were named to the women's team.

North Carolina student-athletes who are 2011-12 recipients of two prestigious honors - Athletic Director's Scholar-Athletes and Tar Heel Leaders of Distinction - were recognized Thursday during halftime of the UNC men's basketball team's win over visiting NC State at the Dean E. Smith Center.

USATF Olympic Trials Coverage
Former Tar Heel standout Shalane Flanagan set an Olympic Trials record in qualifiying for the 2012 Olympic Games Saturday. Running in just her second marathon ever, Flanagan bettered the Trials record and her own best time by nearly three minutes.
