Four-time all-state choice as a third baseman and pitcher at West Forsyth High School • Played for coach Randy Pope • Four-time all-conference pick and two-time conference player of the year • Named conference pitcher of the year as a senior • Ranked the No. 8 prospect in the state by Impact Baseball and the No. 216 prospect in the country by Baseball America prior to his senior year • Named to the Impact Dream Team • 2005 Gatorade North Carolina Player of the Year • Honor Roll student • Member of the Key Club, FCA, Boost West, SLC and West Wacos • Played summer ball with the Dirtbags.
