AS A SOPHOMORE (2004)
Was limited to just 10 appearances and eight starts to due shoulder stiffness Finished the season 2-1 with a 6.28 earned run average Worked 28.2 innings and struck out 22 batters Picked up wins against Charlotte and Elon in back-to-back starts on April 14 and 20 Allowed just one earned run and struck out eight in five innings versus the 49ers Against the Phoenix, surrendered just one run on four hits in a season-long 7.1 innings Fanned six Seton Hall batters in his first start of the season on February 22.
AS A FRESHMAN (2003)
Earned Freshmen All-America honors from Collegiate Baseball Went 7-2 with a 4.26 ERA in 15 starts His seven wins tied for the team lead and were the most by a freshman since Scott Autrey went 7-0 in 2000 Fanned 77 batters in 80.1 innings pitched Finished sixth in the ACC with 8.63 strikeouts per game Picked up his first collegiate win with just four hits and two earned runs against Appalachian State on Feb. 25 Tossed five scoreless innings in a victory over Monmonth on March 15 Struck out 10 batters and gave up just three hits and one walk in seven shutout innings against Ball State on March 10 Also fanned a career-high 10 in 7.1 innings in a win over Georgia Tech on April 5 Had a no-hitter through 6.2 innings against the Yellow Jackets Won three straight starts from both Feb. 25-March 10 and April 5-19 The three consecutive victories in April all came against ACC opponents Went seven or more innings on four occasions. Summer 2003: Earned Rookie of the Year honors as a member of the North Adams Steeplecats of the New England Collegiate Baseball League Led the league with a 0.65 ERA and ranked second with 69 strikeouts in 55.1 innings pitched Also selected to the league's all-star game.
