2009 SEASON
Redshirt season • Made just eight appearances before shutting it down following offseason elbow surgery • Worked 8 1/3 innings and tallied six strikeouts and nine walks • Went 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA • Did not allow a run over first three appearances, posting three strikeouts over 2 2/3 innings versus VMI and Liberty • Made a scoreless appearance versus Princeton March 25 • Worked a career-best two innings in first career start versus Charlotte March 25. Summer 2009: Pitched in eight games for the Chatham Anglers of the Cape Cod League • Allowed seven runs and struck out three in 10 1/3 innings.
FRESHMAN (2008)
Allowed just three hits and two runs over 10 1/3 innings as a freshman • Logged a 1-0 record and a 1.74 ERA in 13 appearances • Did not allow a run in 12 of 13 appearances • Held the opposition to a team-low .088 average • Allowed just one hit in 23 at-bats against right-handed batters • Struck out 12 and walked 12 • Pitched in four ACC games and struck out five over 2 1/3 shutout innings • Went 2 2/3 innings over two scoreless appearances in the season-opening series at Florida Atlantic • Posted season-bests of three strikeouts and 1 2/3 innings in a win against the Owls Feb. 24 • Struck out two in a scoreless inning at Duke March 9 • Also worked scoreless innings against VCU, Princeton, Gardner-Webb and Charlotte • Struck out two of three batters faced against No. 2 Florida State April 26. Summer 2008: Pitched in six games, making five starts, for the Forest City Owls of the Coastal Plain League • Posted a 2-1 record and a 6.51 ERA • Struck out 11 in 27 2/3 innings • Underwent ulnar nerve transposition surgery on his right elbow.

Ryan Blake Leach is the son of Tim and Lisa Leach • Born Sept. 27, 1988, in Gastonia, N.C. • Has an older brother, Tyler, who pitches in the St. Louis Cardinals organization • Father played baseball at Wingate University • Majoring in exercise and sport science at Carolina.
