SOPHOMORE (2008)
Emerged as the Tar Heels' top left-hander out of the bullpen • Made 40 appearances to rank third in the ACC and tie for fourth on Carolina's single-season list • Posted a 2.76 ERA and 72 strikeouts over 49 innings • Issued just 17 walks for a 4.2-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio • Averaged 13.2 strikeouts per nine innings • Finished with a 1-2 record and a pair of saves • Pitched in 16 ACC games with a 2.53 ERA • Fanned 32 and walked just four in 21 1/3 innings in league play • Recorded eight games with four or more strikeouts • Pitched in eight of UNC's 10 NCAA Tournament games with 10 strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings • Won the Walter Rabb Award as the Tar Heels' most improved pitcher • First career victory came with two innings against UNC Wilmington June 1 in the NCAA Cary Regional • Picked up the final out at Clemson April 12 to earn first career save • Also earned a save against Wake Forest May 23 in the ACC Tournament • Fanned a career-best six in 2 2/3 innings against No. 14 Georgia Tech April 6 • Struck out 14 in a 6 2/3-inning stretch from April 2-8 • Struck out five in 2 2/3 innings against Charlotte April 16 • Also fanned five at No. 1 Miami May 16 • Fanned all four batters faced versus NC State March 29 • Worked a career-best 3 1/3 scoreless innings and allowed just two hits in the series-clincher against No. 2 Florida State April 27 • Struck out four in 2 1/3 innings at Maryland March 21. Summer 2008: Pitched in six games, making five starts, for the Wilson Tobs of the Coastal Plain League • Went 3-1 with one save and a 2.72 ERA in 36 1/3 innings • Walked just five and struck out 31 • Started Wilson's only game in the 2008 Petitt Cup Tournament and allowed just two runs over seven innings.
FRESHMAN (2007)
Posted a 3.38 ERA over 13 relief outings • Struck out seven and walked just one over eight innings • Held opponents to a .207 average • Did not allow a base hit over his first seven appearances or a run over his first 10 outings • Worked 3 1/3 innings over seven ACC games • Went 1 1/3 innings versus Wake Forest April 1 for his longest outing of the season • Struck out a season-best two batters versus the Demon Deacons and against Davidson March 28. Summer 2007: Played with the Glen Falls Golden Eagles of the New York Collegiate Baseball League • Went 5-3 with a 1.52 ERA in 10 games, including seven starts • Tossed four complete games • Struck out 49 and walked only seven in 65 innings.

Pitched and played first base for four seasons at Iona Prep under coach Fred Gallo • Named county player of the year as a senior • Also earned all-league, all-county and all-archdiocese honors • Named team MVP as a senior and played in the CHSAA All-Star Game • Also earned all-county honorable mention honors as a junior • Active in the Gaelic Society and played in the Brothers Basketball Tournament • Played summer ball with the ProSwing Pride.
