    Tar Heels Scrimmage On Saturday Morning

    With just one week remaining before Opening Day at the Bosh, the North Carolina Tar Heels held a seven-and-a-half inning scrimmage on Friday afternoon that ended in a 7-7 tie.

    CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina earned its third top 25 ranking Friday, receiving a No. 11 rating in the USA Today/ESPN coaches' poll. The No. 11 ranking is the Tar Heels highest preseason ranking entering 2010.

    The Tar Heels, coming off a 48-18 season and their fourth straight trip to the College World Series, were ranked No. 13 by Collegiate Baseball and No. 20 by Baseball America.

    Six Atlantic Coast Conference baseball teams are ranked among the top 15 of the 2010 preseason USA Today/ESPN Top 25 baseball coaches' poll, including three among the top 10.Virginia claimed the fourth spot, followed by Florida State at No. 5. Georgia Tech is ranked 10th. Miami, rated No. 13, and Clemson No. 15 round out the league's ranked teams.

    All six of the ACC's ranked teams, along with Boston College, received NCAA bids in 2009, with Virginia and North Carolina reaching the College World Series.

    North Carolina opens the 2010 season Feb. 19 at Boshamer Stadium against George Washington.
