  • CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Highlighted by five exciting Atlantic Coast Conference weekend series at state-of-the-art Boshamer Stadium, the University of North Carolina's 2010 baseball schedule was released Wednesday. The Tar Heels, who have made four consecutive trips to the College World Series and are the nation's winningest team since 2006, will play 37 times on their home field.

UNC also will play 18 games versus teams that reached the 2009 NCAA Tournament.

Carolina opens the 2010 campaign Feb. 19 at home against George Washington in the opener of a three-game set. The Tar Heels will also face Maine Feb. 26-28 and Michigan March 5-7 in non-league weekend series before kicking off conference action at Duke March 12-14.

UNC's home conference slate features three-game sets with Florida State March 19-21, Georgia Tech March 26-28, NC State April 9-11, Wake Forest May 7-9 and Virginia Tech May 20-22.

In addition to the opening series in Durham, Carolina also will travel to Maryland April 2-4, Miami April 16-18, Clemson April 23-25 and Virginia May 14-16 within the league. The Tar Heels will not face Boston College in ACC play for the next two seasons.

As always, UNC's non-conference schedule features midweek dates with a number of in-state opponents, including Charlotte (April 28, May 18), Davidson (April 21), Elon (April 6, May 3), Gardner-Webb (March 2), High Point (April 27) and UNC Greensboro (Feb. 23, March 24). The Tar Heels will also host South Carolina powers Coastal Carolina (April 14), College of Charleston (May 11) and Winthrop (March 30).

Greensboro's NewBridge Bank Park will host the 2010 ACC Tournament from May 26-30. NCAA postseason play begins June 4 on campus sites, and 2010 College World Series is slated for June 19-30 at Omaha's Rosenblatt Stadium.
