Former North Carolina All-America pitcher Andrew Miller is headed to Miami after being traded by the Detroit Tigers to the Florida Marlins. The trade, the biggest of the Major League Baseball offseason thus far, sends Florida Marlins outfielder Miguel Cabrera and pitcher Dontrelle Willis to Detroit in exchange for Miller, outfielder Cameron Maybin, a native of Asheville, and four other prospects.

Miller, a native of Gainesville, Fla., helped lead the Tar Heels to the 2006 NCAA title game. He earned All-America honors, was named Baseball America National Player of the Year and the Roger Clemens Award winner as nation's top collegiate pitcher. He was the No. 6 overall pick in the 2006 MLB Draft by the Tigers.

In another UNC tie to the trade, Maybin is the cousin of former Tar Heel and current Minnesota Timberwolves standout Rashad McCants, and women's basketball leading scorer Rashanda McCants.
