Wright Named Progress Energy Player Of The Week
Jan. 2, 2007 Brandan Wright made 16 of 19 shots from the floor and averaged 17.5 points per game in two Carolina wins and is the Progress Energy Tar Heel of the Week for December 25-31, 2006. Wright had 19 points, seven rebounds and three blocks in an 87-48 win over Rutgers and had 16 points and six boards in an 81-51 triumph over Dayton. The freshman from Nashville, Tenn., made 8 of 10 shots against the Scarlet Knights and 8 of 9 against the Flyers. Other Nominee WRESTLING North Carolina heavyweight Spencer Nadolsky defeated a pair of
nationally-ranked opponents en route to a runner-up finish at UNC
Greensboro's Southern Scuffle. After winning his first three bouts Dec. 29,
Nadolsky posted overtime victories against No. 15 Andy Patrick of Boise
State (4-3) and No. 8 Ed Prendergast (3-2). In the final, Nadolsky fell to
No. 1-ranked Cole Konrad of Minnesota, 4-1. Ranked ninth nationally by
InterMat, Nadolsky is now 13-3 on the season and needs just four wins to
record his 100th career victory.
