It's time to get to know a whole new class of Carolina basketball players, and now they have jersey numbers to go with their names. The quintet of Tar Heels who are now on campus for the second session of summer school and will begin play for Carolina during the 2009-10 season have selected their jersey numbers. The picks are as follows:
Dexter Strickland: #5
John Henson: #31
Leslie McDonald: #15
David Wear: #34
Travis Wear: #43
The Wear twins, of course, are destined to be the bane of every broadcaster, as they're not just mirror images (they're identical twins), but they've also picked mirror image jersey numbers.
15 (J.B. Tanner) and 5 (Ty Lawson) were also worn last season. Jersey-34 was last worn by Brandan Wright and 31 was last worn by Thomas Wilkins during the 2005-06 season. Jersey-43 hasn't been worn since Joe Everett during the 2001-02 campaign.
