    July 16, 2008

93-year-old former UNC men's basketball player Pete Boone took time to visit the Carolina Basketball Museum on July 16 to add his name to the players' autograph wall. Mr. Boone, his wife, Francis, and family came from Greensboro to add his name to the exclusive wall. Mr. Boone played on the 1938 squad coached by Walter Skidmore. The team, then known as the White Phantoms, went 16-5 and won the Southern Conference regular season championship. Mr. Boone was one of seven letterwinners that year. He and Francis have been married for 70 years.
