2005 - Sophomore season
Played in nine games and started the first five • Did not play in the final two games against Duke and Virginia Tech • Had four carries for three yards against Maryland • Caught two passes for seven yards, including one on fourth down to keep Carolina's game-tying field goal drive alive vs. the Terps • Carried 10 times for 32 yards, including a long of nine, in the win over Boston College • Had a team-high 15 carries for 46 yards, including a long of 20, against Miami • Started and rushed six times for 32 yards, including a long of 11, against Louisville • Had a career-best 24-yard reception against the Cardinals • Struggled against Utah with 23 carries for 44 yards, but did score on a 1-yard touchdown run in the third quarter • Rushed for a career-high 129 yards on 25 attempts in the victory over NC State and was named the ACC's Offensive Back of the Week • Popped a 62-yard run on the second play of the game • That run was the longest by a Tar Heel since 2003 • Scored his first career touchdown on a 2-yard run in the third quarter • Made his first career start against Wisconsin and had 37 yards on 11 carries • Alternated series with freshman Cooter Arnold against Georgia Tech and had 28 yards on nine carries, including a long of 13 yards.

Rushed 41 times for 169 yards, an average of 4.1 yards per carry • Made one reception • Member of LSU's co-national championship team in 2003.

SuperPrep All-America at Bowie High School and was one of the top five running backs in the country • County Player of the Year as a senior • Rushed for 2,165 yards as a junior • Rushed for 590 yards on 67 carries as a senior in limited action • Earned all-state and all-metro honors • State champion in the 50 meter freestyle.
