    A skilled all-around player, Lewis runs well, catches the ball out of the backfield and has made several big plays at Carolina • Was second on the team in catches last year • Was involved in three of UNC's six longest plays last season (a 56-yard run, a 48-yard run and a 64-yard reception) • Has worked hard in the weight room to improve his durability • Earned "Super Ram" status in the weight room in each of the last two seasons • Holds UNC records in the power clean (353 lbs.), squat (616) and long jump (10-5) by a running back.

    2003: Junior season
    Played in all 12 games and started eight at tailback • Was a starter in the two-tailback offense Carolina used throughout most of the season • Finished second on the team in receiving and third in rushing • Caught 34 passes for 391 yards, an average of 11.5 yards per game, and had a team-high five touchdown catches • Caught TD passes against NC State, Arizona State, Wake Forest and Georgia Tech • Rushed for 374 yards on 61 carries and scored one touchdown • Had two of Carolina's four longest runs on the season, including a 56-yarder at Wisconsin and a 48-yarder at Clemson • Arrived late in Madison, Wis., Friday evening due to a death in the family, but had his best rushing day of the season against the Badgers • Rushed for 82 yards on six carries, including a 56-yarder that set up a field goal • Caught three passes for 85 yards, including a career-best 64-yard touchdown catch, against NC State • Caught the ball on a screen pass and zipped through the Wolfpack defense for the score • Had six catches for 56 yards and also rushed for 17 yards against Virginia • Rushed for 66 yards on seven carries in the win at East Carolina in which the Tar Heels amassed 189 yards on the ground • Rushed seven times for 62 yards at Clemson and put Carolina ahead in the second quarter with a 3-yard touchdown run • Rushed for 50 yards on nine carries and caught four passes for 57 yards and a touchdown in Carolina's 42-34 win over Wake Forest • Caught four passes for 51 yards and a touchdown against Georgia Tech • Made three catches for 59 yards and a touchdown against Duke.

    2002: Sophomore season
    Played in 12 games and started nine at tailback • Led the team in rushing with 574 yards on 130 carries • Scored a team-high two rushing touchdowns • Caught 14 passes for 87 yards • Despite a nagging hip injury, rushed for a career-high 102 yards on 17 carries and scored a touchdown in the win at Duke • Carried seven times (out of nine plays) on UNC's first scoring drive against the Blue Devils, including a 21-yard rush and a 1-yard TD run • Carried a season-high 20 times for 84 yards and caught a 16-yard pass vs. Texas • Scored a touchdown and had 31 yards rushing in the season-opener against Miami (Ohio) • Carried nine times for 54 yards, including a 29-yard run against Clemson • Also caught a 24-yard pass against the Tigers • Had a season-long 32-yard run at Florida State • Rushed 11 times for 59 yards against the Seminoles • Also played on special teams and had nine tackles, including five solo stops and four assists.

    2001: Freshman season
    One of only seven true freshmen to play • Finished the season with 56 carries for 241 yards and one touchdown • Had eight receptions for 63 yards, including a long play of 31 yards vs. Duke • Saw his first action of the season in the fourth game of the year against Florida State • Had five carries for 29 yards, including a 27-yard dash against the Seminoles • Followed that contest with seven carries for 28 yards at NC State • Gained 26 yards on seven carries at Clemson and had 21 yards on seven carries vs. Wake Forest • Had his best game vs. Duke, carrying 11 times for 94 yards (8.5 yards per attempt) and scoring his first career touchdown on a 28-yard run • The 28-yard run came on the heels of a career-long 40-yard run • Was second on the squad in rushing yards per attempt with 4.3 • Started the last game of the year against SMU and had 30 yards on 11 carries and two catches for nine years.
