Students Getting Ready For East Carolina Game

    Oct. 3, 2001

UNC students lined Manning Drive outside the Athletic Ticket Office Wednesday morning to pick up tickets for Saturday's East Carolina football game. Kickoff is set for 3:35 p.m. at Kenan Stadium.

Head coach John Bunting, whose Tar Heels have posted back-to-back wins over Florida State and NC State, arrived shortly after 9 a.m. to greet students waiting in the long lines and thank them for their support. At lunchtime, Bunting ordered pizzas for the crowd.

Carolina, which plays the nation's hardest rated schedule according to the Sagarin computer rankings, has not faced East Carolina since a 56-0 win in 1981 in Chapel Hill.

Hundreds of students were in line first-thing Wednesday morning to pick up student tickets to the sold-out East Carolina football game.

East Carolina tickets are in hot demand after Carolina's 41-9 win over FSU and a 17-9 victory last Saturday over NC State.

Students crowd the ticket window for their chance to see the Tar Heels for just the second time at Kenan Stadium this season.
