Two former Tar Heel kickers registered big days for their respective teams. Tampa Bay's Connor Barth had a career day booming three field goals all from 50 yards plus, including a long of 54 yards, in a 25-23 last second loss to Miami. Barth's little brother Casey, connected on four field goals in the Tar Heels 33-24 win over Miami Saturday. The Steelers' Jeff Reed scored all 12 of Pittsburgh's points, making four field goals in a touygh 18-12 loss to the Bengals.
Sam Aiken, New England- Veteran started at wide receiver and saw action on special teams as the Patriots dropped a heartbreaker, 35-34, to the Colts Sunday night.
Ethan Albright, Washington- 15th-year deep snapper helped the Redskins convert on two key fourth-quarter field goals in a 27-17 victory over Denver that broke a four-game losing streak.
Kentwan Balmer, San Francisco- Defensive tackle had one tackle as part of a defense that allowed only two field goals in a 10-6 win over Chicago Thursday night.
Connor Barth, Tampa Bay- Second-year kicker had a huge day, connecting on field goals of 51, 50 and 54 yards, but it was not enough as the Buccaneers lost to Miami 25-23 in the final seconds.
Dre’ Bly, San Francisco- Former three-time All-America defensive back had two tackles and one assist as the 49er defense shut down Chicago and prevailed 10-6.
Jason Brown, St Louis- Fifth-year center anchored an offense that rushed for 141 yards against unbeaten New Orleans, but it was not enough as the Rams fell 28-23.
Alge Crumpler, Tennessee- Veteran tight end helped pave the way as the Titans racked up 168 rushing yards in their third straight victory, a 41-17 blowout of Buffalo
Greg Ellis, Oakland- Defensive end was inactive with a knee injury as the Raiders lost to Kansas City 16-10.
Brooks Foster, St Louis- Rookie wide receiver, who was the Rams’ fifth-round pick this year, is on injured reserve after ankle surgery.
Madison Hedgecock, New York Giants- Fullback and his Giant teammates were idle, but will return to action next week at home against the Falcons.
Jesse Holley, Dallas- Wide receiver is listed on the Cowboys’ practice squad.
Vonnie Holliday, Denver- Veteran defensive end had three tackles and two assists in the Broncos’ 27-17 loss to Washington Sunday.
Hakeem Nicks, New York Giants- Rookie wide receiver returned to Chapel Hill as part of his bye week and will help the Giants look to end a four-game skid next week as they host Atlanta.
Willie Parker, Pittsburgh- Running back had one carry for seven yards as the Steelers dropped an 18-12 decision to Cincinnati.
Julius Peppers, Carolina- Eighth-year defensive end had two quarterback hurries as the Panthers defeated the Falcons 28-19 Sunday.
Richard Quinn, Denver- Rookie tight end saw limited action as the Broncos were defeated 27-17 by Washington.
Jeff Reed, Pittsburgh- Veteran kicker converted field goals from 28, 33, 35 and 34 yards but it was not enough as Pittsburgh fell 18-12 to division-leading Cincinnati.
Garrett Reynolds, Atlanta- Rookie offensive tackle was inactive in the Falcons’ 28-19 loss to Carolina.
Jeff Saturday, Indianapolis- Former All-ACC center helped the Colts rack up 407 total yards as they rallied from down 17 points to stay undefeated by beating New England 35-34 in the closing seconds.
Gerald Sensabaugh, Dallas- Strong safety had two tackles and one assist as the division-leading Cowboys lost to Green Bay 17-7 at Lambeau Field.
Ryan Sims, Tampa Bay- Starting defensive tackle had one assist as the Buccaneers were edged 25-23 by Miami Sunday.
Brandon Tate, New England- Rookie wide receiver, a third-round pick of the Patriots, was placed on injured reserve this week for a knee injury and is out for the season.
Hilee Taylor, Carolina- Second-year defensive end was inactive in the Panthers’ 28-19 win over Atlanta.
David Thornton, Tennessee- Eighth-year linebacker had two tackles and an assist as Tennessee crushed the Bills 41-17.
Greg Warren, Pittsburgh- Fifth-year deep snapper helped the Steelers convert all four field goal attempts and five punts in their 18-12 loss to the Bengals.
Wallace Wright, New York Jets- Saw action on special teams as the Jets lost to Jacksonville 24-22 on a last-second field goal.
