    When Mike Voight passed away this week, he left behind a legacy of football greatness at North Carolina. He is still the second-leading rusher in school history and ranks second in career touchdowns. He was ACC Player of the Year in both 1975 and 1976.

    Tar Heels Named To Phil Steele's Preseason All-ACC Team

    Eleven Tar Heels have landed on Phil Steele's preseason All-Atlantic Coast Conference football team, including five that garnered first-team accolades. In addition, offensive guard Jonathan Cooper and linebacker Kevin Reddick were named to Steele's first-team All-America squad.

    Football Season Opener Set For 12:30 p.m.

    North Carolina's season opener vs. Elon on Saturday, Sept. 1, will kickoff at 12:30 p.m. and will be televised by the ACC Network. The following week, the Tar Heels travel to Winston-Salem for a 3 p.m. kickoff vs. Wake Forest. That game will be televised by the Regional Sports Networks (RSN).

    Luke Named National Video Coordinator Of The Year

    North Carolina's Christopher Luke was voted the 2012 Bob Matey National Video Coordinator of the Year by the Collegiate Sports Video Association (CSVA) at its annual convention in Indianapolis. Luke was selected from the 17 Conference Video Coordinator of the Year winners by a majority vote of his peers.

    North Carolina's team of Larry Fedora and Roy Williams finished tied for eighth at -6 in the 2012 Chick-fil-A Bowl Challenge and won $20,000 for scholarships.
