    General: Returning regular in the midfield who will run on the No. 2 midfield unit this year...two-year letterman...had a tremendous freshman year in 2007 but was held back by injury issues from having a spectacular sophomore year...Coach Breschi believes he has the potential to be a dominant midfield presence...a tremendous goal-scoring threat ...younger brother of Brian Burke, starting UNC close defenseman from 2006-08.

    2008 Season (Sophomore): A preseason injury lingered most of the season, cutting into his playing time and therefore his offensive numbers...played in the final 12 games after missing the first two matches of the season...had two goals and two assists but his defensive numbers were still outstanding with 17 ground balls and six caused turnovers.

    2007 Season (Freshman): Played in all 16 games for the Tar Heels...was the team's sixth-leading scorer with 19 points...ranked fourth on the team with his nine assists...with 10 goals he was one of eight Tar Heels in double figures...had two goals in a game on four ocassions -- against Navy in the regular season, in the win over Johns Hopkins, against Fairfield and in the NCAA Tournament against Duke ...had two assists in games against Navy and Virginia...his top point games were Navy with four and Johns Hopkins with three...had 13 ground balls with seven of them coming in the ACC and NCAA games against Duke.

    Prep: Was one of the top-ranked recruits in the nation at offensive midfielder in 2006 ...graduated on June 3, 2006 from Saint Anthony's High School in South Huntington, N.Y. ...played four years of varsity lacrosse and football and one year of varsity basketball ...played wide receiver on the gridiron, midfield on the lacrosse field and point guard in basketball...a lacrosse high school All-America...All-Long Island and All-Catholic Team selections ...played on gold medal team at Under Armour All-Star Game...member of L.I.
