CHICAGO - Four Tar Heels were named to their respective United States National Teams this week as defender Boyd Okwuonu was named to the U-20 training camp, while fellow freshman Cooper Vandermaas-Peeler along with January enrollees Jonathan Campbell and Nico Rittmeyer will participate in the U-19 Stuttgart Junior Cup.

Okwuonu appeared in every match during Carolina's run to the NCAA National Championship in 2011 and is one of 36 players invited to attend the U-20 training camp in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., set for Jan. 2-9.

The training camp is ahead of the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup qualifying tournament for the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup set to be held in Turkey.

Fellow freshmen All-America selections Mikey Lopez and Jordan McCrary were initially selected to attend the training camp but were unable to go.

The United State U-19 squad that is set to compete at the U-19 Stuttgart Junior Cup in Stuttgart, Germany was also announced this week and will have a heavy Tar Heel flavor as three Tar Heels will be heading to Germany.

Freshman forward Cooper Vandermaas-Peeler will be joined by January enrollees Jonathan Campbell, a defender from Greensboro, N.C., and Nico Rittmeyer, a defender from Savannah, Ga.

The event will take place Jan. 6-7 in Stuttgart, Germany.
