CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina sophomore midfielder Kirk Urso has been selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III second team, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced last week. Urso owns a 3.32 grade point average in economics.

The Lombard, Ill., product has started all 15 games for the No. 3 Tar Heels this season with nine points on three goals and three assists. Urso, who has helped lead Carolina to an 11-2-2 overall record, is tied for second on the team in assists and is sixth in scoring.

Off the field, Urso is extremely active in the Chapel Hill community. He serves as the men's soccer representative for Carolina Outreach and is responsible for organizing team visits to the local Ronald McDonald House and UNC Children's Hospital.

Urso was also selected to represent North Carolina last summer at the NCAA Student-Athlete Development Conference at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla. The conference provides student-athletes an opportunity to meet other student-athletes and experience a multitude of challenging and thought-provoking activities that will enable them to become change agents on their campuses and in their communities.

Urso and the Tar Heels close the regular season on the road at Elon Tuesday and at Clemson Friday.
