    General – Two-time letterman...heads into the season ranked #61 in the nation in singles....is ranked #3 in the region in singles and #2 in the region in doubles with Daniel Pinchbeck...was born April 12, 1982 in Oklahoma City, Okla....son of Ben and Felicia Monroe...has one sister...his father was a basketball player at Langston University.

    As a Junior -- Went 3-1 in the prequalifying phase of the All-American Championships...also went 4-1 in the Omni Hotels Mideast Region Championships, reaching the semifinals.

    As a Sophomore -- Named to the 2002 All-ACC Team...posted an overall singles record of 23-11...went 7-1 in the ACC...had a 21-17 record overall in doubles, including a 6-2 mark at #2 with Daniel Pinchebck...reached as high as #29 in the nation in doubles with Geoff Boyd...was named the ACC Player of the Week on April 15, 2000...advanced to the fourth round of the ITA All-America Pre-Qualifying tournament.

    As a Freshman – Had second most singles wins on the team with 18 … 17 of his 18 wins were in straight sets...finished with an overall singles record of 18-13… the highest ranked opponent he defeated was #84 ranked William Barker (Rice), 6-2, 6-2 … won his first seven matches in the spring season.

    Prep—Graduated in 2000 from Pembroke Hills High School...one of the top-ranked junior players in Missouri…was ranked as the #1 player in the USTA’s Missouri Valley Section…played #1 at the Boys Team Intersectionals…won the prestigious Easter Bowl singles Championship in the Boys’ 14s…ranked #3 in the USTA Boys’ 16s doubles…reached the semifinals in doubles at Kalamazoo…earned the Sportsmanship Award at multiple USTA events…member of the national team three years in a row.
