Chapel Hill, NC - 8th nationally ranked UNC cruised to a 7-0 victory over Howard on Sunday in what will ultimately prove to be one of the Tar Heels' last tune-up matches before they begin ACC play against Wake Forest on March 18th. The success came early and often for North Carolina, as they lost a total of 10 games in singles and doubles combined against the Bison.

Since Howard only traveled five players for the match against the Tar Heels, they were at an immediate disadvantage as they had to forfeit both the #3 doubles match and the #6 singles match. The masterful play of David Stone, Lenny Gullan, Benjamin Carlotti, and Tristan Heinrich didn't make things any easier for the Bison, either, as the two doubles teams combined lost just one total game en route to clinching the team doubles point for UNC.

The Tar Heels' success in doubles carried into singles, as Kyle Baker and Andrew Crone set the pace early by each putting up 6-0, 6-0 wins at the fifth and fourth singles spots, respectively. The rest of the UNC team followed suit, as a 6-0, 6-3 victory by Karl Wishart at the number three singles spot preceded a 6-3, 6-1 win by Benjamin Carlotti at number one. Finally, David Stone continued his earlier success in doubles by winning his match at the second singles spot 6-2, 6-0. Stone's win, combined with the earlier Tar Heels' wins and the Howard forfeits, put the match score at 7-0.

North Carolina now looks ahead to an away match in Jacksonville, Florida against Navy, who picked up a 7-0 win of their own against Howard on February 2nd. The match will be played on March 12th at 4 PM ET.
