2008-09: NCAA qualifier • Logged a 27-10 record as the Tar Heels' starter at 197 pounds • Went 12-3 in dual action, including a 4-1 mark in the ACC • Posted a team-high six pins and added six major decisions and a technical fall • Ranked No. 19 at 197 by InterMat entering nationals • Placed third at the ACC Championships, third at the Southern Scuffle and sixth at the Reno Tournament of Champions • Won eight straight at the Southern Scuffle to take third after an opening-round loss • Named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll.
2007-08: Logged a 19-11 mark as Carolina's 197-pound starter for the second straight season • Went 11-3 in duals and 3-2 versus the ACC • Posted two pins and five major decisions • Earned all-conference honors with a runner-up finish at the ACC Championships • Defeated Virginia's Brent Jones (10-7) before falling to No. 5 Hudson Taylor of Maryland in the final • Also placed sixth at the Michigan State Open and eighth at the Cliff Keen Invitational.
2006-07: The Tar Heels' starter at 197 pounds for much of the season • Went 15-11 overall and posted a 7-5 mark in duals • Went 2-1 against the ACC • Recorded three pins and one technical fall • Placed third at the ACC Championships with a technical fall of Duke's Patrick Keenum (18-2) and a major decision over Virginia's Kyle Narkiewicz (11-0) after an opening round loss • Also placed second at the Nittany Lion Open • Had a pair of five-match win streaks during the season.
2005-06: Redshirt season • Posted a 15-7 mark wrestling unattached at 197 pounds • Picked up two pins and two technical falls • Placed first at the UNC Pembroke Classic and sixth at the Nittany Lion Open.
Prep: Six-sport athlete at Germantown Academy • 2004 national prep champion and 2005 national prep finalist at 189 pounds • Ranked seventh nationally at 189 pounds in InterMat's High School Senior Rankings • Recorded two top-five finishes at the Beast of the East tournament • Also participated in track and field, football, baseball, lacrosse and swimming in high school.
