NCAA Qualifier (2006)
2007-08: Posted a 17-13 mark as Carolina's starter at 149 pounds • Went 9-7 in dual action and 2-3 versus the ACC • Recorded two pins, two technical falls and three major decisions • Placed fourth at the ACC Championships • Posted big wins over Duke's Michael Degli Obizzi (15-0) and Virginia Tech's Nick Murray (13-2) at ACCs • Went 4-2 at the Southern Scuffle.
2006-07: Started the season at 141 pounds but finished as the Tar Heels' starter at 149 • Posted a 16-10 overall record, including a 10-6 mark at 149 • Went 8-7 in dual action and 4-2 versus the ACC • Earned all-conference honors for the second straight season with a runner-up finish at the ACC Championships • Defeated Virginia Tech's A.J. Johnson (Fall 4:05) and Maryland's Andrew Schlaffer (12-6) before falling to Joe Caramanica of NC State in the finals (4-3) • Went 5-0 at the Michigan State Open with a win over No. 19 Cesar Grajales of Penn en route to the 141-pound title • Recorded three pins and major decision.
2005-06: Posted a 37-9 record as the Tar Heels' starter at 141 pounds • Tied for the seventh-most victories in Carolina history • Earned All-ACC honors with a runner-up finish at the conference championships • Received an at-large berth to the NCAA Championships where he went 0-2 • Recorded a 20-1 mark in duals and was 6-0 versus the ACC • Notched nine major decisions, five pins and four technical falls on the season • Posted major decision wins over Jalil Dozier of NC State (12-0) and Nick Alparone of Virginia (8-0) before falling to Virginia Tech's David Hoffman (10-6) in the ACC final • Won 17 straight bouts before the loss to Hoffman • Also placed first at the Carolina Open, third at the Nittany Lion Open and fourth at the East Stroudsburg Open • Named ACC Wrestler of the Week Nov. 28, following his Carolina Open title, and Feb. 6, after dual wins over Duke and Virginia Tech.
2004-05: Redshirt season • Wrestling unattached, went 3-2 at the East Stroudsburg Open to place eighth at 141.
Prep: Four-year letterwinner at Durham Riverside High School • Three-time North Carolina state champion • Earned prep All-America honors • Wrestling team captain for four years • Served as senior class president and drew for his high school newspaper.
Personal: Vincent Toribio Ramirez is the son of Julian and Marie Ramirez • Born Sept. 20, 1986, in Riverside, Calif. • Majoring in psychology and communication studies at Carolina • Has four brothers • Oldest brother wrestled at NC State for one season, and brother Philip was on the team at Carolina.
