CHAPEL HILL --- North Carolina (7-1) plays its final pre-Christmas home game Sunday when the Tar Heels host in-state foe Gardner-Webb at 3 p.m. at the Dean E. Smith Center. Carolina defeated Radford on Tuesday night, 74-48, while Gardner-Webb is coming off its eighth straight win Dec. 5 against East Carolina. Carolina is ranked No. 11 in both the AP poll and the coaches’ poll. Gardner-Webb is receiving votes in the coaches’ poll.

Carolina’s overall home record since the beginning of the 2004-05 season is 90-3. The Tar Heels have won 44 of 45 in Chapel Hill, including their last 16 home conference games. In addition, UNC has won 84 of its last 85 non-conference home games.
CAROLINA IN THE SMITH CENTER
• UNC will begin its 2009-10 season in the Dean E. Smith Center while the renovations to Carmichael Auditorium are being completed.
