Fours Lead UNC At Dad Vails

North Carolina closed out the 2011-12 season with two days of competition at the Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta May 11-12 on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia. The Tar Heels raced well as part of the largest collegiate regatta in the U.S.

The varsity four turned in North Carolina's best finish of the day as the Tar Heels competed in the 2012 Atlantic Coast Conference Rowing Championships Saturday morning at Lake Hartwell in Clemson, S.C. UNC was fourth in the varsity four, fifth in both the novice eight and second varsity eight and sixth in the varsity eight for an overall finish of fifth.

Tar Heels To Battle For ACC Title

North Carolina and its conference rivals will battle for the 2012 Atlantic Coast Conference Rowing Championship on Saturday at Lake Hartwell in Clemson, S.C. Clemson is hosting the event for the 10th time in the 13 years the ACC has sponsored a rowing championship.

UNC In Action At Knecht Cup

The North Carolina rowing team put in a long weekend of racing at the Knecht Cup Regatta Saturday and Sunday in Camden, N.J., earning finals spots for three boats and picking up plenty of racing experience in the process. On Sunday, the novice eight finished sixth in the grand final, the varsity four was third in the petite final and the second varsity eight was third in the third final.

North Carolina's Taylor Brown (gymnastics), Shinann Featherston (women's tennis), Blair Meiggs (rowing) and Tyler Zeller (men's basketball) were among 42 Atlantic Coast Conference student-athletes honored Wednesday at the annual ACC Postgraduate Awards Luncheon at the Sheraton Greensboro Hotel at the Four Seasons.

Varsity Four Best At Occoquan Sprints

The North Carolina rowing team created plenty of highlights in a morning of racing Sunday at the Occoquan Sprints in Occoquan, Va. Racing against a large and competitive field on the Occoquan Reservoir, UNC best finish of the day was in the varsity four, but other boats turned in strong performances, too, in many cases racing against teams that UNC has already seen this spring.

Second Varsity Eight Leads The Way For UNC

Carolina's second varsity eight boat provided the biggest highlight of the day as the North Carolina rowing team hosted Georgetown and West Virginia Saturday morning at Lake Wheeler in the Tar Heels' only home event of the season. Despite rainy weather, all races went off as scheduled.

Tar Heels Race In Raleigh Saturday

The UNC rowing team will race locally this weekend for the only time this spring, hosting Georgetown Saturday morning at Lake Wheeler in Raleigh. Racing begins at 9 a.m. and will last until approximately 10:15.

Tar Heels Take On ODU, Delaware

The North Carolina rowing team raced Old Dominion and Delaware on Saturday, winning six of nine races in a day of competition on the Lafayette River in Norfolk, Va. The Tar Heels took on host ODU in the morning, winning only the novice eight race, but came back in the afternoon to sweep all five races against Delaware.
