DAVIDSON, N.C. - The North Carolina field hockey team earned its second shutout of the year and improved to 4-0 overall with a 9-0 win over host Davidson Tuesday evening. Senior Melanie Brill and freshman Kelsey Kolojejchick scored three goals each in the win.

Freshman Jaclyn Gaudioso Radvany scored the first goal of her college career just before the 23-minute mark and added another in the second half. The final goal came from redshirt freshman Katie Plyler, a Charlotte product whose first career score put UNC up 7-0 at halftime.

On the evening, Carolina outshot the Wildcats 27-0 and led 9-0 in penalty corners. Davidson goalkeepers Christa Goeke, Mary Clay and Sarah Fisher combined for 10 saves on the night.

Next up for the Tar Heels is another road trip, this one to play in the Vonnie Gros Classic, hosted by West Chester (Pa.) University. Carolina will face Villanova on Friday and the host Golden Rams on Saturday. UNC coach Karen Shelton is a graduate of West Chester and was coached there by Gros.
