GREENSBORO, N.C. - North Carolina senior Melanie Brill has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey Co-Player of the Week after scoring a goal and adding an assist in UNC's 3-0 ACC win at Wake Forest on Saturday.

Brill played major roles on both the offensive and defensive ends of the field in UNC's win. She assisted on the Tar Heels' second goal of the game, a penalty corner deflection by freshman Jaclyn Gaudioso Radvany, and sealed the win with the game's third goal, on another penalty corner. She also helped to anchor a Tar Heel defense that has earned eight consecutive shutouts and allowed only two goals all season. A back from Oley, Pa., Brill has scored 15 goals this season, a total that leads the team and ranks third in the ACC. She also has four assists for a squad-high 34 points.

Brill shared the weekly honor with Maryland's Emma Thomas.

Next up for the Tar Heels (11-0, 2-0 ACC) is another home game, this one against Boston College. UNC hosts the Eagles Saturday at 11 a.m. at Francis E. Henry Stadium. On Sunday, Carolina travels to Duke for a 1 p.m. game. That matchup will not count toward the conference standings, since the teams met two weeks ago for the season's designated ACC battle.
