Amber Marsh enters her fourth year as an assistant coach for the Tar Heels. Her duties include assisting Head Coach Sally Austin and coaching and teaching the women’s golf team. Marsh, who became Carolina’s assistant coach in February 2000, is a ‘92 graduate of the University of North Carolina and was a four-year starter for Carolina’s golf team, 1989-92. She helped lead the Tar Heels to the ACC Championship title in 1992. Marsh played on the Futures Tour in 1997 and has since reinstated her amateur status. She advanced to the Sweet 16 of the ‘98 Mid Amateur which was played in Houston, Texas, and played in the 1997 U.S. Women’s Open at Pumpkin Ridge in Portland, Ore., and the 2001 U.S. Women’s Open in Southern Pines, N.C. “I am very excited to have Amber as a part of the Tar Heel women’s golf program,” says Head Coach Sally Austin. “She has an extensive knowledge of the game and I know our players enjoy working with and learning from her.” Marsh, a native of Jamestown, N.C., is not the only member of her family who is familiar with the women’s golf program here. Marsh’s two older sisters also played collegiate golf at Carolina – Sheree was on the 1976-78 teams while Page, who is now the head coach at NC State, played 1982-85. |
