Greensboro, N.C. - Twelve former University of North Carolina women's golf team members have been named to the Atlantic Coast Conference 50th Anniversary Team which was announced today by Commissioner John Swofford. The Carolina representatives are Donna Andrews, Kimberly Byham, Debbie Doniger, Kandi Kessler, Stephanie Kornegay, Page Marsh, Kelly McCall, Linda Mescan, Megan Morgan, Marcy Newton, Katie Peterson and Jessica Wood.

In addition to Carolina's 12 representatives, Duke placed 23 members on the team. Wake Forest had 10 players selected followed by Florida State with three and NC State with two selections. The 50-member team was voted on by the six league institutions that sponsor the sport as decided by the league's 50th Anniversary Committee.

Donna Andrews, 1986-89
Lady Paladin Invitational Champion in 1988...second-team All-America in 1989...finished in third place at the 1989 NCAA Tournament, the low Tar Heel for the event.

Kimberly Byham, 1990-93
Carolina's second ever first-team All-America, selected to the team in 1993...All ACC selection in 1992 and 1993...won 1993 Woodbridge Collegiate and 1992 Tar Heel Invitational...champion of 1993 NCAA East Regional...placed third in 1993 ACC Tournament...led Carolina to an ACC Championship in 1992 and two NCAA eighth-place finishes in 1992 and 1993.

Debbie Doniger, 1989-92
All ACC selection in 1992...1992 ACC Tournament Champion...led Tar Heels to team title in 1992 ACC Tournament...helped garner eighth-place NCAA finish for Carolina in 1992.

Kandi Kessler, 1984-86
Selected to the 1986 United States Curtis Cup team, the first Carolina golfer to receive that prestigious honor...captured one individual championship during her collegiate career, winning the 1985-86 Lady Kat Invitational.

Stephanie Kornegay, 1977-80
Won four tournaments during her collegiate career...captured individual title at 1976-77 North Carolina AIAW Tournament, the 1976-77 Duke Best Ball, the 1977-78 Duke Fall Invitational and the 1978-79 Lady Kat Invitational.

Page Marsh, 1982-85
1983 third-team All-America...1985 All-ACC selection...won 1982-83 Pat Bradley Intercollegiate...Duke Spring Invitational Champion in 1982 and 1983...led Tar Heels to team title at 1982 Duke Spring Invitational...placed 19th in1983 NCAA Championships, playing as an individual.

Kelly McCall, 1994-97
Two-time All-ACC performer being selected to the team in 1995-96 and 1996-97...won three tournaments during her collegiate career - the 1995 Duke Invitational, the 1996 Lady Tar Heel Invitational and the 1997 Lady Gamecock Classic...voted the team's most valuable player three years (1995, '96, '97)...was the low Tar Heel at two ACC Championships, tying for third place in 1997 and finishing seventh in 1996.

Linda Mescan, 1980-82, 1984
Selected third-team All-America after 1981-82 season, Carolina's first ever women's All-America selection...won 1979-80 North Carolina AIAW Tournament...champion of 1981 Duke Spring Invitational...won 1981 Duke Fall Invitational...led Tar Heels to team title at 1981-1982 Blue Ridge Mountain Invitational and Duke Spring Invitational.

Megan Morgan, 1995-98
Selected to the All-ACC team in 1998...was the low Tar Heel at the 1998 NCAA East Regional, tying for eighth place...carded nine of 10 top 25 finishes in 1997-98...in the 1996-97 season Morgan tied for 11th place at the ACC Championships and was the team's low finisher at the NCAA East Regional, tying for 29th place.

Marcy Newton, 1997-00
Captured championship of 2000 U.S. Women's Amateur...1999 second-team All-America selection...three-time All-ACC selection in 1997, 1999 and 2000...1997 ACC Rookie of the Year...named to 1999 first-team Golfweek Sagarin Mid-Atlantic/East District Team...won three tournaments during her collegiate career - the 1997 Betsy Rawls Longhorn Classic, 1999 Fripp Island Intercollegiate and 2000 Bryan National Collegiate.

Katie Peterson, 1986-89
Selected to 1990 Curtis Cup team...named third-team All-America after 1987-88 season...Carolina's first first-team All-America selection after 1988-89 season...won five individual championships during her career at Carolina - the 1986 Duke Spring Invitational, the 1987-88 Lady Seminole Invitational, the 1988-89 Memphis State Invitational, the 1988-89 North/South Collegiate and the 1989 Duke Spring Invitational...helped Carolina gain eighth place finish in 1989 NCAA Championships...finished 11th at 1989 NCAA Championships...Carolina's only five-time individual medalist and two-time All-America.

Jessica Wood, 1990-93
Selected to the All-ACC team in 1992-93...won two tournaments during her career - the 1990 Lady Seminole Invitational and the 1990 Duke Fall Invitational.
