ERIE, PA. - University of North Carolina golfer Margaret Pentrack captured the Pennsylvania Women's State Amateur Championship on Friday by defeating Jordan Craig 1 up. Pentrack will be a junior at UNC this year while Craig formerly played for Wake Forest. The event took place at the Kahkwa Club here.

"It finally feels good to be playing well again," says Pentrack. "It gives me confidence as I'm preparing to come back to school and head into the fall season."

Pentrack, from Pittsburgh, Pa., defeated Aurora Kan, 3&1, in the semi-finals. Kan was the medalist in the medal play portion of the event shooting 71 while Pentrack was the runner-up at 73. In the first round of match play, Pentrack defeated Amy Young, 3&1, and then defeated Jenna Rothermel, 4&3, in the second round.

The Tar Heels begin their fall campaign Sept. 5-8 at the NGCA (National Golf Coaches Association) Collegiate Match Play Championship in Daytona Beach, Fla.
