    1) How did you get started in gymnastics?

When I was nine I spontaneously decided I wanted to be a gymnast, so I tried teaching myself gymnastics moves around the house and I think that finally convinced my parents to put me in gymnastics classes.

    2) What do you like most about being an athlete at UNC?

That when a gymnast from another team asks me what a Tar Heel is, I have to explain this elaborate story about the Civil War and how our troops defended their grounds as if they had "tar on their heels". I'm proud to continue that tradition.

    3) Do you have any pre-meet rituals or superstitions?

Before a meet I listen to a "pump up" mix on my iPod.

    4) So far, what has been the biggest challenge for you in your first year of collegiate gymnastics?

My biggest challenge I face this year is coping with my injuries. Tearing my acl last year set me back in competing all-around this year. It's hard knowing that I can contribute more to my team if my body wasn't holding me back.

    5) Where is your favorite place to eat on Franklin Street?

My favorite place to eat on Franklin Street is Top of the Hill.

    6) What is your favorite and least favorite event? And why?

My favorite event is floor because I love acting as much as I love gymnastics and floor is the only event where I can combine the two. My least favorite event usually depends on how practice is going (haha) but I actually don't have a least favorite event, otherwise I wouldn't be a gymnast.

    7) What is your favorite movie? And why?

Moulin Rouge because it is such an incredible piece of art. I actually had to watch it a few times to really understand the essence of the film.

    8) Who in your life do you admire the most? And why?

I admire my mother. She has overcome a lot in her life by believing in herself even when others did not. She is also one of the most dedicated and committed athletes I know, and so having her as a role model helped me to accomplish my goals through out my gymnastics career.

    9) What is the best advice you have ever received?

You can find the good in any bad situation; things happen for a reason: they can open the door to endless opportunities.

    10) What is your favorite class/subject at UNC Chapel Hill?

My favorite class so far was DRAM 150 which was "Acting for Beginners" with Professor Strong. It was hard work that I enjoyed a lot.
