    The University of North Carolina gymnastics team held its annual awards dinner and for the second consecutive season, Kara Wright of Virginia Beach, Va., was named the team's most outstanding gymnast. Wright won the East Atlantic Gymnastics League all-around title and helped lead the team to the conference championship this season.

    Senior Christine Nguyen, the EAGL Gymnast of the Year, won the coaches award on balance beam and floor exercise, and was presented the Tonietto Award for Gymnastics Performances of Exceptional Aesthetic Quality. Senior Tina Jacob won the Kaiser Award for Outstanding Commitment To The Pursuit of Team & Individual Excellence.

    Twice named EAGL Gymnast of the Week in 2010, Wright was at her best at the conference championships finishing first in the all-around, second on uneven bars (9.875), third on floor exercise (9.875), fourth on vault (9.850) and 13th on balance beam (9.725). She was also named the 2010 EAGL Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
