    Final Stats

Philadelphia, Pa. -- Courtney Lubbe had five goals and three assists to lead the No. 6-ranked University of Pennsylvania women's lacrosse team to an 11-2 victory over No. 9 North Carolina on Friday evening in Philadelphia. Penn remains undefeated at 3-0 while the Tar Heels, who lost their second consecutive game, fall to 3-2 on the year.

Jenn Russell and Sarah Kuonen scored single goals for the Tar Heels. Carolina's two goals were its fewest in a game since a 12-2 loss at Johns Hopkins on April 27, 2003.

Lubbe's eight points led the Quakers, who also got three goals and an assist from Becca Edwards and two goals and an assist from both Erin Brennan and Emma Spiro.

The Quakers outshot Carolina, 26-13, and won 11 of 15 draws in the contest. Penn tallied 16 shots to UNC's seven in the first half alone.

Both teams got off to a bit of a slow start with Penn leading 2-0 after the first 12 minutes of action. Russell scored an unassisted goal with 16:18 left in the half to make it 2-1 Penn, but Lubbe then scored back-to-back goals that put the Quakers ahead, 4-1, at the break.

After Edwards scored off an assist from Lubbe less than four minutes into the second period, Kuonen scored an unassisted goal to cut it to 5-2 with over 20 minutes of action left in the game. Penn outscored Carolina, 6-0, the rest of the way.

Logan Ripley played all 60 minutes in goal for UNC, allowing 11 goals and recording eight saves, six of which came in the first half. Emily Szelest made six saves and allowed just two goals in the cage for Penn.

Carolina will continue its Spring Break road trip and return to action on Monday at the University of Denver at 6 p.m. Eastern Time.
