    Tewaaraton Award finalist Becky Lynch tallied four goals, two assists and six draw controls as the University of North Carolina beat Navy, 14-7, in the first round of the NCAA Women's Lacrosse Tournament on Saturday at Fetzer Field. The Tar Heel defense held Navy scoreless for nearly 18 minutes and UNC went on a 5-0 run in the first half after the Midshipmen had grabbed a 3-2 lead.

    Fifth-seeded North Carolina (14-3) will host unseeded Navy (18-2) in the first round of the 2012 NCAA Women's Lacrosse Tournament on Saturday May 12 at noon at Fetzer Field in Chapel Hill. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students.

    University of North Carolina attacker Becky Lynch (Garden City, N.Y.) is one of five finalists for the 2012 Women's Tewaaraton Award, the Tewaaraton Foundation announced on Thursday. Five men and five women were selected as finalists and will be invited to Washington, D.C. for the 12th annual Tewaaraton Award Ceremony, May 31 at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of the American Indian.

    The University of North Carolina has earned the No. 5 seed in the 2012 NCAA Women's Lacrosse Tournament and will host unseeded and Patriot League champion Navy on Saturday at noon at Fetzer Field in a first-round matchup, the NCAA announced on Sunday night. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students.

    University of North Carolina women's lacrosse players Kara Cannizzaro, Becky Lynch and Laura Zimmerman were among the 25 nominees for the 2012 Tewaaraton Award, the top individual honor in the sport, announced on Wednesday. Carolina's three nominees tie the Tar Heel program with Maryland for most in the nation.
