A returning letter winner who had an outstanding freshman year a strong presence on the flank in the midfield also an excellent student.
Freshman Season (2010)
Played in all 24 games for the Tar Heels started the last 10 games of the season at right midfield played 1336 minutes recorded seven assists, the sixth highest total on the team recorded three assists versus Missouri on August 29 and had two helpers against Miami on October 17 assisted on Crystal Dunn's game-winning goal in the 99th minute in a 1-0 win at Virginia assisted on Meghan Klingenberg's game-tying goal in the 88th minute in the ACC Tournament semifinals versus Wake Forest named to the 2010-11 ACC Academic Honor Roll merited Dean's List accolades in spring semester 2010.
ODP, National Teams & Club Soccer
Played center midfield for the Marin FC in club soccer, leading the squad to the '08 State Cup semifinals selected in 2009 for the ODP Region IV Team made the Cal-North state ODP team four years straight from 2006-09 Marin FC captain.
Prep
Graduated from The Branson School in Ross, Calif., on June 11, 2010 member of varsity soccer team there for four years led Branson to MCAL high school league championships in 2007 & '09 MCAL player of the year in 2010 a first-team All-League and All-County selection in 2007, 2008 and 2009 Branson team captain MVP of Branson School squad in 2008 and 2010 selected to the Branson cum laude society.

Kelly Heavner McFarlane is the daughter of Marilou and Craig McFarlane was born October 2, 1992 in San Francisco, Calif. undeclared major her mother ran track at UNC while her dad was a football player at UC Davis.

Section #1: Soccer
1. The best things about being a Tar Heel soccer player are being a part of such a great team and all the great gear!
2. My favorite thing about competing for Coach Dorrance is how hard he pushes us every day.
3. Since last year the aspect of my training I've worked on the most is long balls.
4. My best friend on another college soccer team is Amy Schlueter at Middlebury.
5. My greatest strength as a soccer player is tackling.
Section #2: Interests
1. Away from the soccer field and academic pursuits I like to spend time at the beach and camping.
2. The best movie I've seen recently is Horrible Bosses.
3. If I could compete in another sport at UNC it would be lacrosse.
4. The music act I'd most like to see in person is Matt Nathanson.
5. The personal interest I have that might surprise my teammates is drawing.
Section #3: Food & Beverage
1. After a game at Fetzer Field, I'd like to see a buffet spread at McCaskill that included Chick-fil-A, fruit and Gatorade.
2. My favorite beverage is chocolate milk.
3. My favorite food made by a relative is my Mom's apple pie.
4. My favorite places to eat in Chapel Hill are my grandparents' house and Armadillo Grill.
5. My favorite guilty pleasures food wise are jelly beans and Swedish Fish.

1. My most prized personal possession is my dog, Poppy, and my Oakleys.
2. If I could go to dinner with a famous person it would be nobody, it'd be awkward!
3. My dream job is to join Doctors Without Borders.
