    General—A walk-on who has earned a roster spot for the Tar Heels as a reserve forward.

    Prep—Graduated from Lakeside High Schol in Atlanta, Ga. on June 9, 2000....played varsity soccer for four years there as a forward...also played junior varsity basketball for for years...won the Viking Award for Athletic/Academic Excellence at her high school...was also the MVP of the socvcer team...is the career goal-scoring leader at Lakeside...was named the team’s most valuable offensive player from 1996-99...was named the Student Athlete of the Week in the Dekabl Neighbor Newspaper as a senior...was a member of the Dekalb All-County Team 1996-2000...member of Georgia ODP Team and a state team tournament player selection...in 1999, she won the AOBY Youth Leadership Award, the Wendy’s Hiesman Award, the Spelman’s Book Award and the National Council of Negro Women Academic Excellence Award...she was named a Furman Scholar and a Georgia Merit Scholar while also winning membership to the Spanish National Honor Society...in 2000, she won the AJC Constitution Cup Award as the best all-around athlete at LHS...she won the DAR good citizenship award, was elected treasurer of the National Honor Society, captured the Humanitarian Award as a special education volunteer, received the Coca Cola Award for Academci and Athletic Excellence and was named Lakeside’s best all-around senior and the most likely to succeed award.

    Personal—Given name is Hilary White Young...nicknamed “Hil”...has one brother...is the daughter of Timothy and Deborah Young...a pre-medicine mahor...would like to pursue a career as an orthopedic surgeon or in some other facet of sports medicine...athletes she most admires are Sheryl Swoops and UNC’s Marion Jones...was her high school’s Homecoming and Prom Queens...her father played basketball and ran track at Brown, graduating in 1975.
