Hawkins & Givan Named Soccer America Preseason All-Americas

OAKLAND, CALIF. - North Carolina senior midfielder Ali Hawkins and senior defender Rachel Givan were amongst seven Atlantic Coast Conference student-athletes named to the 2010 Soccer America Women's Preseason All-America team, which was announced Thursday morning. Representing the ACC on the 25-member squad are Boston College goalkeeper Jillian Mastroianni and forward Victoria DiMartino, Hawkins and Givan from UNC, Florida State defender Toni Pressley, Maryland forward Jasmyne Spencer and Virginia midfielder Sinead Farrelly. Stanford, ranked No. 1 in Soccer America's Preseason Top 25, led all teams with three players on the preseason team. All 11 ACC teams open their regular seasons on Friday. The full slate includes a pair of top 10 matchups. Sixth-ranked Boston College plays host to Stanford. Two-time defending NCAA champion North Carolina, ranked first or second nationally in all major polls, travels to No. 8 Texas A&M. Soccer America Women's Preseason All-Americans
