UNC Meets UCLA Friday In NCAA Semifinals

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.--The University of North Carolina women's soccer team will meet undefeated UCLA in the 2008 NCAA Women's College Cup semifinals Friday at 7 p.m. at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C. The game will be nationally televised live by ESPNU. Coach Anson Dorrance's team is the overall No. 2 seed in this year's tournament while the UCLA Bruins are the overall No. 3 seed. All four No. 1 seeds in each of the bracket's four quadrants have advanced to the College Cup. Overall No. 1 seed Notre Dame, the nation's only undefeated and untied team, will be overall No. 4 seed Stanford Friday at 4:30 p.m. in the first semifinal game. The Tar Heels are 19-0-1 in their last 20 matches and 23-1-2 overall. The Bruins are undefeated at 22-0-2. Carolina's only loss has come at the hands of top-seeded Notre Dame. North Carolina is in the College Cup for the 24th time in 27 NCAA Tournaments. Both semifinal games Friday are already sold out.
