Engen, Heath & Nogueira Named Soccer America MVPs

OAKLAND, CALIF. - Seven seniors, including defender Whitney Engen and midfielder Tobin Heath of national champion North Carolina, head the 2009 Soccer America MVPs first team. At least one Tar Heel has been named to the Soccer America MVPs since they were introduced in 1988. The Soccer America MVPs are the equivalent of the magazine's All-America Team. The only other teams with two players on the 2009 MVPs first team are runner-up Stanford and Portland. A third Tar Heels senior, Casey Nogueira, was named a Soccer America second-team MVP for the 2009 campaign.
