Named one of the best central defenders in Carolina History by Coach Anson Dorrance, Jessica will be on the players to watch for the 2006 North Carolina Tar Heels. Jessica took a redshirt in 2005 to recover from tearing her right anterior cruciate ligament and has come back strong to regain her starting spot in the heart of Carolina's defense. Coming off a off-season which included playing for the U.S. Under-21 National Team, Jessica will be looking to build on her impressive freshman year which saw her named to the 2003 Freshman All-America team. 2006 Season Highlights: -Played every minute of Carolina's three ACC Tournament games, going 98 minutes in the final as UNC downed Florida State, 2-1, in overtime. -Named ACC Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the week ending October 9. -Named to the Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week for the week ending October 10. -Named NSCAA Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the week ending October 11. -Has started all 21 of Carolina's games she has played in, including 14 shutouts, leading the team to 21-1 record and 21-game winning streak, the longest current streak in the country. -Recently anchored Carolina's defense in shutout wins at home against Virginia on October 5, Virginia Tech on October 16 and at Duke on October 8. -Her four assists this season are tops among Carolina defenders. -Her outstanding play in central defense has contributed to Carolina allowing only eight goals this season.
