    No. 25 North Carolina will host its 2012 home opener, playing a doubleheader against Longwood Wednesday, Feb. 22, beginning at 3 p.m. from Williams Field at Anderson Stadium.

    The University of North Carolina Softball Team will host a FREE Defensive Skills Clinic Thursday, Feb. 23. It is open to any athletes in grades 1-12. The Tar Heels invite you to watch their open practice from 3-5:30 p.m., attend the clinic, and stay for a Meet The Heels poster signing session after.

    Sara Buchholz, Logan Foulks and Lori Spingola were named to the 8th Annual Mardi Gras All-Tournament team for their efforts in propelling No. 25 North Carolina to a 3-0 record over the weekend. The Tar Heels are 7-0 on the season.

    Kelli Wheeler, Ally Bake and Logan Foulks each tallied a home run as North Carolina blanks Northwestern, 5-0, in the 8th Annual Mardi Gras Classic at Lamson Park. Sara Buchholz and the Tar Heels then shutout Northwestern State, 1-0, to stay undefeated (7-0) on the season.
